Metal goals for 2017
#1
Ok here it is this years metal goals thread.

1. Sell music I don't listen to, yeah I know I said this last year too but I'm going to try harder this year.
2. Decide whether I'm going to upgrade my existing turntable or buy a new one.
3.Continue going to shows
4. Renew my passport and start saving to go to Japan

You're going to have to let me know how that goes. Smile

Selling off the rest of my unwanted cassettes and vinyl is my only confirmed metal goal right now. I'm going to only collect CDs from now on.

As far as shows go, I'm not going to beat around the bush and claim that I'll "try" to go to them more next year. The closest that I can get to a real metal show is a four-hour drive, but I only go for the really good ones. If a band as big as Cirith Ungol plays near me, then I'll consider making the trip.

Yeah, the going to more than one show goal isn't on my list for 2017 either.

I will still continue to buy albums.New releases and older albums to fill some gaps in my collection.I also hope to find Wicca - Splended Deed album on CD and/or vinyl for a decent price.

My metal goal for this year was to keep up with releases more than I did in 2015, but I failed miserably at that; I'm still so far behind. So hopefully my metal goal for 2017, which will be the same thing, will be met to expectation.

It gets even more overwhelming when you follow Japan, as not only are bands constantly forming and splitting up within a short period of time, it's a pain to get their CDs. On top of the anti-download mindset and import prices, some bands only release stuff to sell at the very few shows that they'll play. One of the moderators at another forum is all over this stuff.

I´m the slave of my job all over the year. Too tired to go out after work and watch any live gigs.

That sounds too familiar.
Let's hope 2017 will get better!

2016 was actually a pretty good year for me. I feel even more dedicated to metal lately, especially as I've been broadening my horizons by seeking out Japanese bands. The new Onmyouza (陰陽座) album is incredible, and easily my top pick for this year.

This is kind of neat, sort of a new year's resolutions for metal.

1. Finish responding to all of the polls here

2. See Nile/Overkill when they come down

3. Get a few more metal shirts

I hope to work on my new death metal project in 2017. 2016 was not a great year for me. My father had prostate cancer and then he died on his birthday in September. I had this idea of a band called Infernoblast. Hopefully by January 2017, I will record a demo.

Just started collecting vinyl recently, so that's probably what 2017 will consist of for me; because some of this shit is damn near impossible to find on CD. Also, my iPod has finally run out of memory, so I'll be looking for something new that uses memory cards instead of an internal memory. Having to deal with Apple products this long has been an absolute nightmare, you don't even know.

Here's some of the albums I'll be gunning for:

Atheist- Pieces of Time
Atrophy- Violent by Nature (again)
Attitude Adjustment- American Paranoia
Blood Feast- The Future State of Wicked
Carnivore- Retaliation
Coroner- Death Cult (demo)
Cyclone Temple- Land of the Greed, Home of the Depraved (compilation)
Destruction- Cracked Brain
Fates Warning- Inside Out
Fates Warning- Night on Bröcken
Equinox- Auf Weidersehen
Gargoyle- Misogi
Heir Apparent- Graceful Inheritance
Intruder- Escape from Pain (EP)
Mystik- The Plot Sickens
Overkill- The Grinding Wheel
Overkill- Horrorscope
Overkill- Under the Influence
Paradox- Heresy
Power Trip- Nightmare Logic
Powermad- The Madness Begins (EP)
Sanctuary- Dead Again
Sanctuary- Inception
Screamer- Target Earth
Toxik- In Humanity
Venom- The Wastelands

Psychosurgery: Venom's The Waste Lands is tough on any format; the bootleg CD is fairly common as of late; never seen an LP though. Tape is the most common.

Bumping this back up, since we're approaching the end of the year.

I sold a good chunk of my cassettes, albeit just the really big names, so I'm stuck with lots of wastes of space here. I'll probably give more of them away with subsequent transactions.

I've been pretty selective with my purchases lately, even as I've been making more money. I have a phobia of ending up with shitty CDs that I can't get most of my money back on.
